Before you make an appointment for yourself or a family member to see a counselor or a physician for bipolar depression, do a Google search for “chemical imbalance” on the web, and you will be amazed at the amount of information from experts that argue that depression is not linked to a chemical imbalance. You will also see many warnings about medications commonly prescribed for depression, and the horrible side effects that some of these drugs can have.

The diagnosis of major depressive disorder is based on the patient’s self-reported feelings and experiences, behavior reported by relatives or friends, and a mental status exam. There is no laboratory test for major depression, although physicians commonly request various tests for physical conditions that may cause similar symptoms. Depression can have a physical cause, an emotional cause, or be related to a spiritual condition, or any combination of all three.

Depressed people may be preoccupied with thoughts and feelings of worthlessness, inappropriate guilt or regret, helplessness, hopelessness, and self hatred. Bipolar depression is a serious condition that affects a person’s family, work or school life, sleeping and eating habits, and other areas affecting every aspect of a person’s life.

Bipolar depression disorder (also known as manic depression) is a medical condition that causes psychological problems to such a degree that daily functioning is hampered by the symptoms. The most prominent symptoms include extremes of mood known as depression and mania. These emotional extremes are usually beyond normal responses to events and often last for extended periods of time. Psychosis and suicide are also concerns for those diagnosed with this disorder.

As ministers, we can help you to fight against bipolar and depression, and be completely free from it. We do not sell anything,  God takes care of our needs. We have seen the scourge of depression devastate our youth, and we do not believe that we ought to sit back and let this condition bring ruin to people and their families. Do not believe the lie that you cannot be free from depression – anything that is opposite to what Jesus said, is not the truth. Jesus said that the truth will set you free (John 8:32) and who the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). Jesus came to set the captives free, (Luke 4:18), if you or a loved one are held captive by depression, Jesus wants to set the captives free. The miraculous power of the Word of God has been used by the Spirit of God to save countless millions, healed many, many people, and has the power to set you free from these awful feelings of depression and anxiety (Romans 1:16).

We use the phrase free from bipolar depression on purpose, Jesus said in John 8:32 that the Truth will set you free. He knows that this means a battle, which can be fierce at times, but He assures us of the ultimate victory over this enemy of the soul. Many psychiatrists do not address or acknowledge the role of the spiritual realm in people’s lives. Jesus’ healing ministry addressed the spiritual realm, and to overcome this debilitating condition we must look for spiritual answers that the psychiatrist cannot provide, if they don’t have the training, equipment or wisdom that comes from the Word of God, the Bible.

To put the question simply, how can a psychiatrist help a Christian with a spiritual problem? Even a fine physician is not usually equipped or trained to provide spiritual solutions to a spiritual problem. Yet when we send children and adults to unbelieving psychiatrists, the church is subcontracting their work to people who are not equipped to deal with spiritual problems. The Bible clearly tells us in 2 Cor. 2:14 that the natural man can not understand spiritual things, so unless the psychiatrist is a Christian, why would we expect these folks to help us? Jesus said that the truth would set us free, and the Bible says that we have been given the wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:30) through his Word to help people, and set them free from spiritual oppression.

Meditate on them and think about them, these truths are from the Creator of the universe. Remember the power is in the Gospel (Rom 1:16), the simple gospel. As you read the Scriptures, and the Holy Spirit works in your life, you will begin to understand and recognize that the Truth will set you free. It does not matter how you got into this condition – as Christians, we do not deny these conditions, but we deny their rights to be in us and have power over us. We have been purchased with a price, (the life’s blood of the Son of God), the price has been paid (by Jesus), and we are delivered from the power of darkness, and been translated into the kingdom of His dear Son (Col. 1:13).
